If You Do Nothing - Nothing Happens Last Updated:   January 05, 2009

Money makes the world go round.................

Even in the best of times the small town of Yucca Valley lies in the center of an economically depressed region. In the worst of times we have lost all hope.

I am a 65 year old veteran. I own D & B Tool Repair. At one time I employed 6 people, today I’m down to 1 part time worker and myself. Tool repair is heavily dependent on the construction industry. There is no more construction industry!

I’ve tried to hang on but things are looking bleak. I haven’t had a real paycheck in over a year, most weeks less than $300 come across the counter, income was -$10,000 last year, my credit cards are maxed out to the tune of $30,000, November is the first month ever that I couldn’t pay the rent, I was denied my social security because I own a business, I am about to lose my business, and what minuscule thread of respect and confidence I have for the American government.

I don’t want charity, I will work my way out of this. As government continues to give out millions and billions and trillions of dollars to bailout giant corporations that are blatantly guilty of poor business practices, pilfering of company funds and extreme bad behavior, I can’t help but wonder if the government is going to bail me out!

They talk of the poor people that make less than $250,000 a year. They need to come down here and talk to the American workers that survive on $20,000 or less.

I’m a business man, perhaps my next business endeavor should be the creation of a new system of government. After all, I couldn’t do any worse than the government we currently support!

Financially speaking, we have the very best government money can buy.......  Lets Sell It!

A complete and open account of all monies is posted on this Financial Page.

Total Assets: $0: This keeps bookkeeping costs to a minimum!

Expenditures: $0: Sorry, we really can't afford to buy anything at the moment.

Funds Available: $0: Well, we don't have to worry about losing it.

In essence I am putting myself in your employ. To oversee the operation of  "American Veteran's Referendum"  I would ask  for no cash money, but if you saw fit to send a buck or two we would greatly appreciate it.

I, like many of you, own a failing business, D & B Tool Repair.

Instead of closing the shop and sending my last faithful employee off to the rolls of the unemployed, I have an idea. To fund a movement to empower the American Veteran to make a positive change in the future of our country.

If you as a veteran or a patriotic citizen, would give your old tools to the American Veteran’s Referendum we wouldn’t have to ask for a handout. Instead we would work for our bread and butter. We could also put vets to work, to help the nation right the wrongs and right the flag.

Broken, non-repairable tools would be dismantled and sold for scrap. So Don't be afraid to send junk, we will turn it into spare parts and pennies. This would provide pay checks and operating funds.

New and repaired tools would be sold to the general public at reasonable prices. These funds would help spread the word and possibly open a chain of "Veteran’s Tool Box" stores across the nation. Each location would be a hub for patriotic awareness and an asset to the American worker and their employers.

Veterans that have a job opportunity but no tools, could contact the membership and be suited with tools to get them started.

Sounds like a lot to accomplish from a pile of broken tools but I always believed that Big Dreams get Big Results.

So, let’s get started. Pack up your old tools and send them to:

American Veteran’s Referendum
c/o D & B Tool Repair
7359 Apache Trail
Yucca Valley, CA
92284

or call 760-228-0360 (Tues. / Fri. 8 - 4:30 PT)
ask about pick-up or drop-off points.

A portion of the money would be spent on the day to day operational costs.

A portion of the money would be spent to better the lives of American Veterans and their families, not through charity, but through creating the opportunities needed to succeed. Once the program was soundly based, it could be expanded to legal struggling American workers.

A portion of the money would be spent to create a network of veterans that would have a voice in the manor in which our country is governed.

All expenditures would be posted on this page as an open check register and submitted to the scrutiny of the membership.

I'm sorry, money is a necessary evil. Given the corrosive nature of money, particular attention will be paid to the frugal, honest and open accounting of all membership monies. Less Taxes of course!

As veterans we would operate under the sanctity and integrity of our common bond..........  Reenlist Today

American Veteran’s Referendum can not be a part of any government agency. We are not a non-profit organization and we do not have tax exempt status. Feeding off the system we are trying to change would be problematic at best. We must do this on our own as a group of Patriots who's aim is to restore fundamental Americanism to the American people.

I am an American Vet, I am a proud American Veteran, I am an American, I am disappointed. I am a Patriot, I will do all I can to insure that I am not the last Patriot. Future generations must inherit America as she was born to be........  Help!

Patriot: A person that is Loyal and Respectful to His/Her Country.
